The cellular modem is a type II PC-Card (PCMCIA) with a built-in antenna and external antenna port that supports HSUPA, HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE and GPRS.  The Sierra 881 is a global modem card. The AirCard 881 offers tri-band UMTS/HSPA and quad-band GPRS/EDGE for global connectivity and worldwide roaming and will work with almost any GSM carrier around the globe. The 881's built-in patch antenna is optimized for North American GSM carriers, but will work with all GSM carriers.  We reccomend using an external antenna outside North America. The 881 Aircard  has a built-in SIM card slot that lets you use your own cell phone SIM card.  This 881 card is carrier unlocked and can be used on any GSM carrier.  The 881 is compatible with the Proxicast LAN-Cell 2 3G cellular router.
