BCAT-E16 is a precisely engineered organic bismuth PU catalyst designed for eco-friendly polyurethane systems. It promotes NCO/OH reactions, offers superior hydrolytic stability versus T9, and helps reduce water–NCO side reactions and CO2 generation. Compatible in solvent-borne and waterborne formulations, it can replace lead, mercury, or tin catalysts in selected applications and be used alone or combined with other catalysts.
BCAT-E16 is a precisely engineered organic bismuth catalyst that embodies the typical characteristics of eco-friendly bismuth-based catalysts:
It is safe and environmentally friendly, serving as a potential replacement for organic lead, mercury, or tin catalysts in certain applications.
It offers superior hydrolytic stability compared to T9.
It promotes the NCO/OH reaction; in both solvent-borne and waterborne polyurethane systems, it can help mitigate side reactions between water and NCO groups, thereby reducing CO2 generation.
However, its ability to suppress the reaction between isocyanates and water is less pronounced than that of catalysts such as CUCAT-HA, CUCAT-HAA, or CUCAT-PD.
It exhibits excellent compatibility and can be used either independently or in combination with other catalysts.
