Pump shaft alignment method

Why is the pump shaft of the slurry pump relatively straight? Today we will talk about the straightness of the slurry pump shaft.

(1) Straightening using a hand screw press

This method can be used when the shaft diameter is small and the bending is large. First, place the shaft in a triangular notch block to support it, or place it on the machine tool and use ejector pins to hold both ends of the shaft, and then turn the apex of the bent convex surface of the shaft upward. The stone water pump industry uses a screw press to press the convex top and push it downward until the shaft is straightened.

(2) Use twisting rod to hit and straighten

This method can be used when the shaft diameter is large and the bending is small. This method uses a twisting rod to cold-beat the curved concave surface of the shaft, so that the surface of the shaft here is extended and straight. The twisting rod should be made of a material with a hardness lower than that of the pump shaft, or a copper sleeve should be inlaid on a material with high hardness. The edge of the twisting rod must have round corners.

On a straight shaft, place the concave side of the shaft facing up and support the convex apex of the large curve. Use tensioning devices to press downwards at both ends, and then use a hammer weighing 1-2 kilograms to hit the twisting rod to make the concave material of the shaft extend by being struck. When twisting, beat from the center of the low concave surface first, then gradually move to both sides, and along the arc surface of one-third of the circumference, but the beating density should be greater toward the center.

The amount of shaft alignment is usually directly proportional to the number of strokes. Note that the shaft alignment is faster during the initial tapping and slower thereafter. When striking, care should be taken to control the twisting rod and not to damage the surface of the shaft.
