GB 6653 gas cylinder steelplates and strips are steel designed for manufacture of welded gas cylinders. The hot rolled GB 6653 gas cylinder steel plates and strips thickness range is 2-14mm, and the cold rolled GB 6653 gas cylinder steel plates and strips thickness range is 1.5-4mm. GB 6653 technical standard specifies the size, shape, weight and allowable deviation, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking and quality certificate of HP235 steel, HP265 steel, HP295 steel, HP325 steel, HP345 steel plates and strips for welded gas cylinders.

The content of residual Cr, Ni and Mo in GB 6653 gas cylinder steel plates and strips should be no more than 0.30% respectively, and the content of Cu should not be more than 0.20%. In order to improve the internal quality of GB 6653 gas cylinder steel plates and strips, proper amount of rare earth element can be added.

Hot rolled GB 6653 gas cylinder steel plates and strips shall be delivered in hot rolled, controlled rolled or heat treated condition. After negotiation between the supplier and the demander and
indicated in the contract, hot rolling and pickling can be carried out. Cold rolled GB 6653 gas cylinder steel plates and strips are delivered in annealed condition.
