The export of agricultural product depends upon the policy of the government of India. From time to time export of rice, wheat, maize is banned. This is done to control inflation and also to meet the internal demand. We import (all kind of pulses, sugar etc.) as well as export agricultural products. However, soya, soya bean meal / extract are all time favorites. The leading producers are USA, Brazil, Argentina, China & India. The bulk of the crop is solvent-extracted for vegetable oil and then defatted soya bean meal is used for animal feed (high protein content). The importing countries are: Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia etc.
