The extracted substance with this method is called 'Cium,' which means 'the sound of fire restoring from a traditional kiln.'

While studying Korean traditional porcelains, You Kil-Sam discovered that celadon porcelains not only had structural, aesthetic and artistic values, but also possessed practical values of material, material engineering, heat treatment and fermentation engineering etc. So he collected pieces of porcelains, soils and sample ores from pottery kiln sites all over Korea, grinded them, combined them by certain ratio, made them matured for a certain period and plasticized them in a conventional type yellow clay kiln to study and analyse their properties and reactions continuously. With this study, it was found out that with special heat treatment, a certain substance decomposes itself or combines itself with other substances to become a different substance with a new property of matter. In addition, a way to extract this type of substance was discovered, too.

Cium is a new substance that You Kil-Sam found during the process of reconstructing Goryeo celadon porcelains.
