Krill (or plankton, as they are commonly referred to) are a small 1.5 cm long shrimp-like crustacean that are harvested from the pristine coastal waters of British Columbia Canada. Krill are
planktonic organisms which feed on highly nutritious algae and zooplankton. Therefore, when fed as part of an aquaculture diet, Krill contributes greatly in improving the nutritional quality
of the feed.
Krill are also rich in highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFA) which are essential for growth and survival among prawn and finfish species. In addition, Krill abounds with carotenoids, a
naturally occurring pigment called asthaxanthin. It is this pigment that gives finfish their rich red color and contributes to firm flesh and scrumptious flavor.
Because most drying processes use heat, which in turn, degrade the quality of the Krill, we have developed a unique drying technology which retains the appearance, pigment content, and nutrition
normally lost in other processes. Working in conjunction with British Columbias leading technology suppliers, we have produced a dry product that is cost-effective and with a quality that far
exceeds any other krill product found in the market today.
