POLLUTION CONTROL EQUIPMENT

Uncontrolled discharge of ballast water and sediment from ships has led to the transfer of harmful aquatic organisms and pathogens, causing injury to public health and damage to property and the environment. Optimarin A/S has designed the OptiMar Ballast Water Treatment System, which is based on solids separation and UV irradiation using the MicroKill Separator and the MicroKill UV. The system utilize the existing ballast pumps aboard the vessel and can handle flow rates from 1 m3/h up to 3000 m3/h per ballast pump.
