An activated sludge process essentially consists of
a. Aeration Tank containing microorganisms in suspension in which the bio-chemical reaction takes place
b. Activated sludge re-circulation system
c. Excess sludge wasting and disposal facilities.
d. Aeration systems to transfer Oxygen and
e. Secondary sedimentation tank to separate and thicken activated sludge.
