In addition to ISO 7816, several communication interfaces are available such as USB 2.0, USB_IC, SWP (NFC choice for Telecom). External flash memory (NAND, NOR) may be connected with the full control of the secure microcontroller. Memory capacities are sized to support new software technologies (JavaCard 3.x, TCP/IP).

The AT91SC is a low power, high-performance 32-bit RISC microcontroller with ROM program memory, advanced EEPROM data memory and cryptographic accelerator. This product family target applications requiring high computing power, very large memories and high-speed protocols. The AT91SC series is designed to meet the Common Criteria EAL4+ certification.

Atmel has developed a new generation of secure microcontrollers to answer next generation smart cards. It offers high level of security, state of the art communication interfaces and mass storage capability. This convergence platform may host multi-applications such as Telecom, Mobile Payment, Mobile TV and Transportation.
