Timber - Red Meranti Shorea spp

Dries fairly rapidly with little distortion but liable to cup.  Thicker material dries slowly with tendency to surface checking.  There is small movement in service.

Seasoning:

Bending and crushing strengths are medium but stiffness and resistance to shock loads is low.  The steam bending class is very poor as severe buckling occurs.
