The main feature of Titanium dioxide is its excellent whiteness, highest opacity and in conjunction with colored pigments, the brightest and cleanest pastel shades. Titanium dioxide has a refractive index better than any other white pigment. It is produced with two different crystal structures, anatase and rutile. Rutile is most widely used and has a more compact atomic structure which accounts for its higher refractive index, greater stability and higher density.
