Boom boats are 12 feet long with a beam of 7 feet.
Our boom boat is 6 inches long. Scale-1/2" equals 1'. If our boom boat was built to the same scale as our other tug boats, it would be only 3 inches long.
Boom boats could be considered to be the smallest tug boats. They handle logs and or bundles of logs, pushing them into place to be formed into a log raft. After a tug boat has towed the raft to its destination, boom boats are used again to push the logs or bundles of logs into place to be lifted out of the water.
