Product Details
Glass beads are supplied in 25kg low melt polythene sacks. Each bag is 25kg of powder mixture and supplied in 1.5 tonne batches, covered and shrink wrapped for protection.
Packaging
During construction in accordance with the usage amount of actual paint thickness of marking line and retro-reflectivity specification, The glass beads are capable of be used as intermix or drop-on.
A specified quantity of drop-on glass beads must be applied onto the molten thermoplastic during installation for immediate retro-reflectivity. For Extrusion, Spray and Profiled Markings, glass beads are applied onto the molten line from a pressurized storage tank. In order to achieve good reflectivity, the glass beads should be embedded, and not submerged in the hot material.
In the thermoplastic road marking paint as intermix beads it shall be treated as part of the aggregate, glass beads shall be reasonably spherical and free from flaws and of a size suitable for this method of reflectorization, subject to a maximum size of 2 mm.
Retro-reflectivity is the ability of a road marking to reflect light from a vehicle's headlights back to the driving position of a vehicle. Initially it will be determined by the amount of glass beads spread on the line. The continuing performance of the line is determined by the amount and quality of glass beads included in the body of the road marking.
Glass Beads - often called intermix beads in conjunction with the pigment, which are applied in thermoplastic road marking paint to give the material the retro-reflectivity necessary for the bright night-time appearance.
