All the other sunscreens are called 'chemical' sun screens. They enter the skin and block the sun rays with a chemical reaction that occurs within the skin itself. Zinc oxide and its cousin titanium dioxide are considered mineral sunscreens, or physical sunscreens. When applied to the skin they sit on top of it bouncing light rays off of the skin like bouncing a ball off of a wall. They provide non-irritating, complete UVA and UVB protection, meaning the skin is protected from ALL the harmful sun rays.

Zinc oxide is the best sunscreen ingredient for total UVA and UVB sun protection, in my opinion!
