Citronella Oil

Citronella is a wild grass and it is cultivated in manycountries. Sri Lanka is a major producer ofCitronella Oil. The essential oil is obtainedfrom the leaves and stem of the plant. The oilcontains approximately 30% citronellal and 50%geranial.The oil and its vapour are potentially toxic toinsects/birds. Citronella Oil is being widelyused as a mosquito repellent and as aningredient in many lotions and creams to driveaway the insects.
