Once considered fierce warriors,  feared by a;; tribes in the zone,  the masaai lost most of their power during the late xix century,  as a consequence of a sting of tribal natural aand historic calamites.

The masaai settled in the xvth century in the region that seperates Kenya from Tanzanania.

The masaai warriors have been adorned in paintings and are the emblem of african exoticism.
