A cougar relaxes at sunrise in the high Sierra; this print from an original in acrylic on masonite brings the grandeur of landscape and the drama of wildlife together into one classic painting. I worked on this painting for well over a year. The setting for this painting is the Sierra Nevada Mountains above Bishop, California, overlooking the Nevada desert lands. The rocky terrain is uplift granite with basalt dikes. The tree is Bristlecone Pine, The oldest tree in the world. The Mountain Lion is a local resident.
