ASTM A131 Marine Grade AH36 Hull Structure Steel Plate Properties

ASTM A131 AH36 hull structure steel plate is marine grade steel for ship building use. BBN steel passed classification societies certification of ABS, LR, BV, DNV GL, RINA, NK, CCS, KR, RMRS. ASTM A131 marine grade AH36 hull structure steel plate shall be normalized (N), control rolled (CR), thermomechanical control processed (TM), or quenched and tempered (QT) when so specified. Charpy V-notch tests shall be made on AH36 hull structure steel plate over 1/4 in. [6.4 mm] in thickness.

Notes: 1) The contents of any other element intentinally added is to be determined and reported.
2) AH36 hull structure steel plate with 0.5 in. [12.5 mm] and under thickness may have a minimum Mn content of 0.70 %.
3) If the content of soluble aluminum is not less than 0.015 %, the minimum required silicon content does not apply.
4) Columbium and niobium are considered interchangeable names for the same element and both names are acceptable for use in A01 standards.
5) The indicated amount of aluminum, columbium (niobium), and vanadium applies if any such element is used singly.
6) Ca element need not be reported on the mill sheet unless intentionally added.

ASTM A131 marine grade AH36 hull structure steel plate thickness is within 4in. [100mm]. It is generally used to manufacture ships, fishing boats and offshore engineering structures in ocean, coastal and inland navigation areas. When AH36 hull structure steel plate and so on high strength ship and offshore engineering structural steel have Z direction requirements, the steel grade should be added with Z15, Z25 or Z35 as suffix according to the specific situation.
