FAQ
1.What is your production method on grinding ball size from D25MM-D100MM ?
A: Our method is hot rolling (Hot Scew Rolling).
2.What is your production method on grinding ball size from D100MM – D140MM ?
A: Our method is quick hammer at first to get a “ball shape”, then use rolling machine to make the ball get even roundness.
Difference between Hot rolled grinding balls and casted balls:
1.First, the materials used by hot rolled grinding balls and casted balls are different;
Hot rolled grinding balls---The material used is a low-alloy high-carbon steel, which is finished round steel made by regular special steel works. Meanwhile, the steel ball shall be made by hot rolled extrusion of billet with the compression rate above 15 times;
Casted balls---The material used is mainly steel scrap collected and added with specific proportions of alloy elements.
2.Different principles to form the hardness of steel balls
Hot rolled grinding balls have been tested by authoritative organization. The hardness of hot rolled balls made by our company has reached 60-65HRC. The steel balls will be quickly cooled down by special quenching for promoting the transfer of austenite in metallic structure into martensitic structure with considerable wear-resistant hardness, so the hardness is produced by quenching.
The specific hardness and wear resistance of casted balls are produced by adding specific amount of alloy element chromium(Cr). The higher content of Cr will result in better hardness and wear resistance and higher cost of steel balls; presently, the content of Cr in china reaches up to 18-25%, with the hardness at 60-64HRC and good wear resistance, but the price is more than 20-40% over hot rolled grinding balls.
